Fulfillment Agencies

Second Helpings partners with organizations and churches that serve people in need in the SC Lowcountry. Our partners serve a culturally-diverse range of populations through a variety of ways, which include soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters, shelters for victims of domestic violence, Boys and Girls Clubs, senior centers and more.

We provide food to over 65 agencies throughout Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton counties.  Agencies must be a 501(C) 3 organization or a church in order to be a partner.  Prospective agencies submit an application to our office and a site visit is scheduled.  Once an agency is accepted as a partner, they will be added to the schedule depending on food availability and area served.  While we try to help as many agencies as possible, requests far exceed our capabilities.  Our focus is to serve the most amount of people in an area while avoiding duplication of services.  The staff and volunteers do annual site visits, food safety training and receive reports from all our agencies to ensure that our partners provide the highest quality of service and food to the public.

We do not charge our agencies a fee to receive food; the food is free. While this increases the amount of money that we need to raise annually, we feel it is another way we can support our partner agencies, which are often small nonprofits with limited budgets and fundraising capabilities. By providing food to these agencies, they in turn can focus their time and resources on their areas of expertise, strengthening the community safety net.
