A Few Good Men and Women – Volunteers Needed

Won’t you help us feed a neighbor? Volunteers are needed for Second Helpings food rescue operations in Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton counties.

Second Helpings is a volunteer-led organization that rescues food from grocery stores in the South Carolina Lowcountry to feed the hungry in our community. We are facing a shortage of volunteers in a time of unprecedented need: with so many businesses shutting their doors, access to food has become more difficult for many. And the number of people who need our help is growing rapidly.

Food rescue is an essential service to the hungry in our community, and we plan to continue our efforts to support them throughout this crisis. But we need more help. We need volunteers to help us load donated food at local grocery stores, and unload it at local agencies for distribution to the hungry. Safety and social distancing is of the utmost importance, and is part of our process.

The ideal volunteer is under 60 years old, able to lift 25 pounds, and can work one or more mornings per week in Beaufort, Jasper, or Hampton counties. Please consider helping us feed the least fortunate. Call 1-843-714-4304.
today to sign up for a shift Monday through Saturday. Bring a friend. We are practicing social distancing while we rescue.

More than ever, hunger has a local address.
