Tackle Hunger and Sample Soup at Feb. 1 Event

Before the wings and pizza, start off Super Bowl weekend with soup! It is the primary item on the menu for the SouperBowl of Caring at Coligny Plaza to benefit Second Helpings. Chefs at Coligny Plaza restaurants are pulling out their best soup recipes for the second annual event on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 12 noon to 4 pm at Coligny Plaza.

Oyster Stew from FISH Casual Coastal Seafood, Shrimp Andouille and Sausage Corn Chowder from Big Bamboo Café, and Skillets’ Pimento Cheese and Broccoli are among the delicious soups to be available for sampling that day. Coligny restaurants participating are Sandbar Beach Eats, Frosty Frog, Big Bamboo, Skillets, FISH Casual Coastal Seafood, and Lucky Rooster Market Street.  Amie Baima from Skillets said the participation by locals who attended last year was indicative of the tremendous support for Second Helpings in the community. She looks forward to an even bigger crowd on Feb. 1!

In addition to soup, there will be live music by Pretty Darn, a local guitar and percussion duo. Beverages will be available from Coligny restaurants.

Tickets to the event are $10 per person and can be purchased at the event or ahead of time through a Facebook link athttps://www.facebook.com/events/2487407961586401

The SouperBowl of Caring is a national event that is designed to “transform the time around the Super Bowl into the nation’s largest celebration of giving and serving.” The first SouperBowl of Caring took place in Columbia, SC, in 1990. Since then, millions have been raised to support hunger relief charities around the country.
