Raffle Tickets for a “Once in a Lifetime” Trip to Portugal

Portugal Trip Tickets Available for Sale

It is a chance to visit Portugal, one of Europe’s favorite vacation destinations, and support feeding the hungry in the Lowcountry. Second Helpings, the food rescue organization for Beaufort, Jasper, and Hampton counties, is offering a week’s stay in a condo and $2,000 towards airfare for a trip to the Algarve Coast of Portugal.

Just 300 tickets at $100 each will be sold before the drawing on Nov. 21.

“This is a trip a chance of a lifetime for anyone who wants to experience life in a small fishing village overlooking beaches and the Ria Formosa Natural Park, chosen as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Portugal,” said Lili Coleman, executive director, Second Helpings.

The week’s stay is in a condo in Fuseta, an old fisherman’s town on the Algarve Coast. Adjacent to the town of 2,100 people is the Ria Formosa Natural Park, home to the largest seahorse population in the world and a birdwatchers’ haven. A generous supporter of Second Helpings donated the week’s stay in this penthouse condo. A video of the accommodations and area are at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWXUMA7liNQ

Fuseta is on the Algarve Coast, about 30 minutes from Tavira, known as one of the “most charming towns” in the Algarve region. It is a “delightful mix of traditional Portuguese heritage with deep-rooted Moorish influences.” There are cobbled streets, tiled houses, wonderful golf courses, and a pristine beach. From Fuseta, a train and short ferry ride will take you to Seville, Spain if you want to extend your trip.
