On Thursday, October 10, Palmetto Breeze Transit management and staff, Second Helpings volunteers, and grateful bus riders celebrated the seventh anniversary of the Fill the Need program and the retirement of Palmetto Breeze Executive Director Mary Lou Franzoni (second from left in the photo above).
Franzoni co-founded Fill the Need, a collaboration between Palmetto Breeze Transit and Second Helpings that has helped hundreds of families by providing groceries every week to those who commute many miles and hours each day to work on Hilton Head Island and in Bluffton. “There’s nothing like this anywhere else in this business,” she said about this unique partnership.
Second Helpings looks forward to many more years of partnership with new Palmetto Breeze Executive Director Brian Sullivan, a long-time supporter of the Fill the Need program.
