Second Helpings Receives Donation from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation

Second Helpings has received $3,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation just in time to help feed local neighbors. Second Helpings will use the funds to purchase fresh food for some of its agencies that are most impacted by the increased need for food during the pandemic.

“Food Lion is an excellent partner in our efforts to secure and deliver food to 55 soup kitchens and food pantries in Beaufort, Jasper, and Hampton counties. From stores donating food to providing these needed funds, we know we can count on Food Lion to help feed our neighbors,” said Lili Coleman, executive director. Second Helpings is the only authorized food rescue organization in this area.

Established in 2001, the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $12 million in grants.
