Second Helpings has selected its 2025 honorees for Supporter of the Year and Food Donor of the Year, recognizing two exceptional partners whose dedication has strengthened food rescue efforts across the Lowcountry for many years.
The Supporter of the Year for 2025 is the Berkeley Hall Charitable Foundation. Berkeley Hall has supported Second Helpings’ food rescue operations since 2017 and has contributed more than $160,000 to expand and sustain our mission. Their long-term commitment has helped ensure our trucks remain on the road, our volunteers stay equipped, and families across Beaufort, Jasper, and Hampton counties receive the nutritious food they need.
“I am profoundly grateful for Berkeley Hall Charitable Foundation’s steadfast support,” said Amy Colin, Executive Director of Second Helpings. “Their generosity has not only fueled our operations year after year, it has allowed us to say ‘yes’ more often – to more routes, more rescued food, and more neighbors who depend on us.”
The Food Donor of the Year for 2025 is Sam’s Club, with special recognition to Store Manager Justin Orr. Since 2017, Sam’s Club has donated more than 4 million pounds of food making them one of the most impactful food donors in Second Helpings’ history. Their reliable, high-volume contributions allow our volunteers to rescue fresh, quality food that is delivered directly to local food pantries and soup kitchens.
“We are deeply thankful for Sam’s Club and for the leadership of Store Manager Justin Orr,” Colin said. “More than 4 million pounds of donated food translates into countless meals and moments of relief for families who are struggling. Their partnership embodies what it means to care for the community you serve.”
